Goodnight Glite

Good Night Glite. David LaMorte. acrylic and paper on canvas. 12”x12”.
This is another painting that I did for Art Gotham’s Square Foot Show. It is a mixture of acrylic and photo-copy transfer.
This was inspired by the recent events happening in Myanmar/Burma. Citizens had begun to protest the military regime in power and those protests were met wit violence by the government. This painting was mostly inspired by the closing of Burma’s Internet Service Providers. This effectively turned off the internet in Burma and cut off much of the communications between protesters and the outside world.
The title, “Good Night, Glite” comes from the name of the main server that was turned off by the name of Glite. By cutting out Burma from the canvas I wanted to show how the Burmese have been cut off and taken off the grid.
